July, 2009 - Rex Lumber completes modernization of Bristol, Florida sawmill
Rex Lumber completed a major upgrade and modernization of its Bristol, Florida sawmill. With this latest facility improvement, Rex Lumber and the McRae family continue their tradition of innovation, modernization and continuous improvement.
The improvements include a new large log line and new edger optimizer and high speed edger. The new large log line includes a Comact double length infeed and a Comact TBL3 shape sawing machine. The edger improvements include a Baxley Equipment edger optimizer and an Omega Solutions high speed edger. In addition to the upgraded equipment, other processes were relocated to optimize plant operations.
The sawmill improvements are meeting their goals twin goals of more rapidly producing lumber and of producing more, higher grade lumber. The mill produces approximately 150MMBF annually on one shift.
